Richie Gecko
Gender: Male

Portrayed by: Quentin Tarantino, Zane Holtz

Richie Gecko is one of the main protagonists in the 1996 film From Dusk Till Dawn. A nerdy, obnoxious, even-shorter-fused, psychopath; that only his brother, "Seth" (a cool, suave, short-fused, sociopathic anti-hero), could even stand. He was portrayed by Quentin Tarantino on film, and will be portrayed by Zane Holtz on TV.[1]

Background

There isn't much information, regarding Richie's back story. When we catch up with the Gecko Brothers, at the beginning of:

From Dusk Till Dawn

'From Dusk till Dawn' tells the story of the Gecko Brothers, right after their latest, alleged, bank-robbery / kidnaping botched attempt. And then, they unexpectedly cross paths with a Sect of kinky Vampires. Before an untimely "death", Richie has a chance to bond with his brother, before his insane antics catch up with him. However, later on during the story, since the undead have a nasty tendency of raising back from beyond "the other side", Richie comes back as just another, zombie-like, Undead Blood Sucker. And none of those very valid schools of thought make it any easier for Seth, to take the rightful and decent decision of putting his brother's evil-possessed carcass, out of its misery.

From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money

The Gecko brothers are mentioned in From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money. Bo Hopkins references Edgar McGraw's cold demeanor and distracted nature: "Oh, them Gecko brothers killed his daddy."

Curdled

The Gecko brothers briefly appear in a photo cameo in the black comedy Curdled. In additional, Katie Houge, news reporter from the first film, appears, again portrayed by Kelly Preston.

TV Series

In late 2013 it was reported that a TV series had begun production.[2] Richie, will be played by Zane Holtz. His understanding brother, Seth, will be played by D.J. Cotrona. Eiza Gonzalez will play the wicked Santanico Pandemonium, and Don Johnson, as Sheriff McGraw. Starring Robert Patrick, as Jacob Fuller.[3]

Video game

It is revealed that some time in between the film and spin-off video game, Seth is arrested and condemned to life in prison for the "Titty Twister" murders. In the video game, he is now shown as an inmate of the fictional Rising Sun high-security prison, a converted tanker floating off the coast of New Orleans. Vampires infiltrate the prison by posing as inmates. They murder the transport guards and the warden and begin a rampage. In the chaos, Seth gains a weapon and escapes his cell.
