Richard Prior is an English conductor, composer and professor of music.
Life
Richard Prior was born in England and studied at the University of Leeds. He then did a PhD in conducting and composition at the University of Nottingham. He studied with James Fulkerson, James Paul, Simon Rattle, Alan Ridout and Philip Wilby. He has taught at St. Catherine's College, Oxford and at Davidson College, Franklin and Marshall College, Oklahoma State University and Southeastern Louisiana University in the United States. He is director of orchestral studies and holder of the Edward Goodwin Scruggs Conducting Chair at Emory University, and is music director and conductor of the Rome Symphony Orchestra, where he holds the Georgia Power Conductor’s Chair.[1][2]
