"When defensive end Rich Owens left Washington and signed with Miami on March 16, there were some raised eyebrows. The Dolphins, after all, probably had the NFL's deepest defensive line. If Owens couldn't beat out never-was Kelvin Kinney in Washington, how was he going to steal time from Tim Bowens, Daryl Gardener, Jason Taylor, Trace Armstrong, Kenny Mixon and Lorenzo Bromell in Miami? Even Owens said he thought he would be a third-down inside pass rusher and a backup end on regular downs. Instead, Owens rebounded to start 13 games for Miami after missing all of 1998 after reconstructive surgery on his left knee. And Owens, who led the Redskins with 11 sacks in 1996 - the most by a Washington lineman in the past eight years - tops the Dolphins with 8 1/2 sacks."

Owens got one finger on Sanders' heel as the Detroit halfback whirled and darted off in the other direction. Owens was the last defender to touch Sanders."
