Father Rhoel Gallardo, C.M.F., (29 November 1965 – 3 May 2000) was martyred Claretian missionary in Basilan, Philippines.

Death

He became a modern-day martyr on 3 May 2000[1] when he was murdered by Islamic rebels on Mindanao. He suffered three gunshot at close range to his head, shoulder and back, and the nails of his index finger and toes had been pulled out two or three days before he was shot.

Beatification

The cause for his beatification is already in the preliminary stages of the diocesan investigation but has not yet received the decree "nihil obstat" from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
