While not making an appearance in the book, Reyna is mentioned by Jason Grace after he starts remembering of his old life. The Son of Neptune

Main Article: The Son of Neptune

After Percy arrives in New Rome carrying Juno and is announced as son of Neptune, Reyna presents herself as praetor to him. Percy notices that she sounds like she knew him and looked at him as she had seen him in one of her nightmares, but she denies complete knowledge of him. Percy disagrees, but doesn't want to argue with her, since she's with her soldiers. She then orders Hazel Levesque to take him inside, so she can interrogate him and find out what he is: a friend to help or a enemy to kill.

Before she interrogates him, she informs Percy that her hounds Aurum and Argetum do not like liars, telling him that if he lies, they would attack him. While finding weird that he does not remember anything otherwise than being trained by Lupa in the Wolf House, but she proceeds to interrogate him. She notes that his arrival may not be such a good thing and also implies they have met. Since he didn't lie, she then sends him to Octavian, who will "talk" to the gods to decide if he lives or if he dies.

Since the gods let Percy live, later that night Reyna announces that he is entering Camp Jupiter and then starts the War Games. Reyna acts as the referee for the games, flying over the field with Scipio, her pegasus, and when the Fifth Cohort manages to break the defensive team walls (due to Percy, Hazel and Frank efforts), she calls the game out.

However, she is interrupted by Mars, who claims Frank as his son, informs about Thanatos capture and also demands that she gives the quest to him. Finishing his speech, he says that Frank was the first to penetrate the defensive team's walls and should receive the Mural Crown. Obeying Mars, Reyna does what he asks.

In the next day, Reyna leads a Senate meeting to decide what the members of the quest (Frank - who has been promoted to a centurion so he could lead a quest -, Hazel and Percy.) can take on the quest and what help the Senate can give them. However, Octavian is against the quest, saying it's suicidal and all they've got should be direct to the Giant Invasion that's going to happen. Despite his efforts, Reyna is able to give them a boat, so they could proceed with the quest.

After the Senate meeting, Reyna asks to talk to Percy in private. While there, she reveals her past to him, saying that she was in Circe's island and that her sister has turned into the Amazon Queen and Reyna gives him her ring, stating that if he ever pass by Hylla, to show her the ring and ask for help. Which he does later.

Reyna appears again in the book when Hazel and Percy send her a Iris message to alert her that the giant Polybotes is in his way, Hazel then jokes, saying that she almost scared her to death since she was in bath time. Frank goes along the joke and says he would've pay to see her face.

Later, when Polybotes army arrives, Reyna fights them with her pegasus, Scipio, flying over the battlefield and destroying monters. When the Amazons arrive at Camp Jupiter, Reyna gets overjoyed with seeing her sister and the Amazons help. After the battles, she cheers their victory together with the other campers, chating "praetor" to Percy. In a party held to celebrate their victory, Reyna makes a speech, thanking her sister for her help, giving her a big hug and also promotes Percy to praetor, making him occupy Jason previous spot.

The next, Percy goes to a Senate meeting to let Reyna know that the Greek demigods would arrive soon. Octavian, who still opposes Percy, suggest to blow them out of the sky (since they're arriving by a flying ship, Argo II). Reyna lets them land, however, makes sure that every demigod is ready to fight if it's the case.

The Mark of Athena

Main Article: The Mark of Athena

After the arrival of the Argo II, Reyna, Octavian and the seven demigods gather together to discuss the prophecy of the Seven, as well as talking about the quests that happened in the previous books (Jason, Piper and Leo's quest to free Hera, que queen of Olympus and Percy, Hazel and Frank's quest to free Thanatos). It's in that meeting that Reyna discovers that Jason is now in a relationship with Piper, Annabeth can tell that Reyna got upset, since she harbored romatinc feelings for Jason, but hid it very well. After the meeting, Reyna liberates Jason to take Piper for a tour around New Rome, tough she doesn't let Percy do the same with Annabeth, saying she wants to talk to Annabeth herself first.

Before the tour starts, Reyna calls Aurum and Argetum to go with her during the walk. While doing it, Reyna stops by a shop to buy some hot chocolate, and while doing so, she says that Minerva takes her vows of chastity very seriously, having no demigods of her own, unlike her greek counterpart, Athena, whom is Annabeth's mother, she also asks if Annabeth knows how Athena changes when brought to the Roman culture, which Annabeth admits to not taking in consideration, Reyna then explains that Minerva lost her war aspect, making her only the goddess wisdom and craftmanship, so even if there was a descendent of Minerva at New Rome, they would more likely be artists or advisers. She then takes Annabeth to her favorite spot of the city, The Garden of Bacchus, there, Reyna asks Annabeth about her side of the story, seeing if she can trust her or not. Annabeth envetually tells everything to Reyna, including information not only about her past, but about the camp as well. Reyna pays attetion to every detail.

After Annabeth is finished, Reyna points to her mother's shrine and explais how when the Romans are at war, they place a spear in the plot of ground inside. Whenever the Romans felt threatened, they would invade anyone around them, including the Greeks. Annabeth says that she doesn't want for the camps dynamic to be like that, which Reyna admits not wanting as well, though having her doubts. She also advises Annabeth to be careful in Rome, saying that once before she had met a child of Athena that went to Rome, arriving in Circe's Island in a crazed state, mumbling about the Mark of Athena and a failed quest before Circe managed to turn him into a guinea pig. While not knowing what it ment at the time, after hearing a prophecy by Ella, Reyna believes it has connection with a Legend of Camp Jupiter involving Athena

Whatever, before she continue, a explosion errupts from where they were eating. Annabeth assumes that the Giants are attacking again. However, Reyna saw the shots being fired from the Argo II and believes that the Greek set up a trap for them, Annabeth denies and since her hounds didn't attack her, Reyna believes in Annabeth, but thinks that at least someone on the ship is a traitor. They ran back together to stop any bloodshed, only to find out that the Legion has already marched up on the Argo II crew, but they manage to escape safely.

After the incident, Octavian starts working in frenzy to start a war with the Greeks, Reyna though wanting, can't stop them. If she tried, he would've claimed she had gone soft. On the Argo II, Piper believes that it would be good to turn back and try to explain things to Reyna, believing she would understand. Annabeth disagrees with the plan, because of the lack of proof of what caused Leo to fire against them.

In Fort Sumter, Reyna crosses path with them once again, in a attack made by the Legion on the Argo II, she approaches Annabeth with Aurum and Argetum and tells her to come back to Camp Jupiter to face trial, where she will be executed painfully, but would allow some peace. Annabeth refuses. Reyna explains that she can no longer stop Octavian and that if Annabeth doesn't go to trial, he will turn his attetion to Camp Half-Blood. Annabeth tries to explain that if she gets Athena Partenos back, she may managed to get the camps united again, Reyna says that she doesn't believe that there's a way out anymore, but lets Annabeth go away, Annabeth asks to Reyna to try to slow down Octavian. Before Annabeth leaves, Reyna says that next time they meet in battlefield, they would be enemies.

Reyna is later shown in Katopris in New York looking outside the window of a building while Octavian plans routes to invade Camp Half-Blood.

The House of Hades

Main Article: The House of Hades

Reyna first appears in Annabeth's dreams while she's in Tartarus. It's shown her standing in Half-Blood Hill and she speaks to Annabeth, but in Athena's voice, saying: I must stand here, the Romans must bring me. It makes Annabeth believe that if the leader of the Romans, who's Reyna, bring the statue to Camp Half-Blood, it would end the conflict in between the two camps and by some extent, end with the switching personalites problem of the Gods.

Reyna later appears in a vision from Jason, where Grover Underwood and Rachel Elizabeth Dare approach her and Octavian at the Camp Jupiter headquartes in New York. Despite Octavian's attempts to start conflict in between them, Reyna hears them out. Rachel deliveres a letter that Annabeth wrote while in Tartarus and sent to Camp Half-Blood to Reyna, stating that she must be the one to deliver Athena Partenos, Rachel also reveals Reyna's full name (Reyna Avila Rámizer-Arellajo), which Grover jokes about (saying that her initials are RA-RA) Reyna, though agreeing to do what Annabeth asked, reminds Rachel and Grover that they still fired against New Rome and that declared war against them, after that she requests that they leave.

Reyna starts preparing to leave to find Jason and the Argo II, stating that she knows a place where he would stop for sure, what shocks Octavian. Reyna, knowing that if she goes she will be stripped down from praetorship and that Octavian will lead them, she orders them to do not attack Camp Half-Blood while she's not there. Though her orders last for little time, since right after she leaves with her Pegasus, Scipio, Octavian annunces change of the plans of the Praetor, stating that they will still attack.

Reyna then reappers in Leo's vision while he's in Ogygia, where he sees her and Scipio being attacked by griphons and venti while traveling to Diocletian's Palace in Dalmatia, leaving him worried.

She arrives wounded and exhausted while the Argo II crew is trying to rescue Annabeth and Percy. Unfortunately, Scipio passes out. Scipio's demise was caused by exhaustion and the griphons poisonous talons. However, Reyna kills the pegasus with her Imperial Gold dagger to end with it's suferring and then breaks down. She has dinner with the Argo II crew afterwards, where Annabeth and Reyna both joke about their escape from Tartarus, thinking wheter Percy would survive without Annabeth or not. Reyna says that she doesn't think that Percy is able to get out of a paper bag without Annabeth's help. This is due the fact that Reyna's impressed by the fact that Percy and Annabeth made their way out of Tartarus, Percy then says that he's more impressed that she could travel to Greece on her own with only her pegasus as company.

Reyna tells them that she believes that she'll be stripped out of her rank once they return, to what Jason replies that he doesn't, since great leaders have to break the rules and think out of the box sometimes. He also informs her that he let down his praetorship, giving it to Frank, to what Reyna proudly replies that she believes he's the exact type of person that could help her lead a legion. She agrees with Frank when he says that the first thing they'll have to do once they are back is put Octavian in a catapult and throw him on the ocean.

Afterwards, while inetialy unsure of the means to transport Athena Partenos back, it's decided that her, Nico di Angelo and Coach Hedge will shadow-travel with the statue back to Camp Half-Blood, taking intervals where Reyna and Hedge protect both the statue and Nico, so he can rest so they can continue travelling. After that, they get ready to travel to New York while the Argo II continue it's way to Greece

Description

Personality

Reyna has shown to be a strong-willed person, being strict with her Legion and not liking to be questioned. She also believes that if she let's her feelings show, when she's scared or worried, it will affect the camp as well.

She's doubtful and doesn't trust people easily, however, when she's alone or with someone she trusts, it seens that she has a softer side. She's also stoic to some extent.

It's noted that she only starts to lose hope after the attack Argo II made at the camp, possibly because she felt betrayed by Jason, together with her pressure of leading the camp along for a long time and Percy's refusal, she believes that nothing will go ever right for her and feels really alone. She also hides her feelings very well, for example when Jason shows up with Piper, Reyna doesn't show anything, even though she was hurt. Outwardly, she still is a fearless leader and even though with all her emotional problems, she gathers courage enough to travel to Greece on her own, sacrificing, in the end, Scipio and possibly her rank.

Appearance

Reyna is descripted as a girl being probably sixteen years old, with piercing black eyes and glossy hair worn in a single braid. Like the demigods from Camp Jupiter, she has SPQR tattooed on her arm, with a sword and a torch crossed, the symbols of Bellona. Since she's a praetor, she wears a purple toga with golden medals over her gold armor.

Abilities

Like most demigods, Reyna probably has ADHD, which gives her inborn reflexes to fight and analyze her opponents fighting style. She also may have Dyslexia, making her brain "hardwired" to read Latin instead of modern languages.

Since being a daughter of Bellona, she's a natural when it comes to fight, she is very proficient in fighting with her spear or dagger and was able to hold off against the giant Polybotes with the help of Scipio. Reyna also fought with every monsters while crossing the Mare Nostrum, meaning she's skilled enough to do so and survive. She also posses Telumkinesis, which means that she's naturally skilled with weapons and may learn how to use then before other demigods.

Relationships

Pets & Companions

Reyna posses three companions, the pegasus Scipio, which helped her transporting from a place to other and mantining her in the sky (for example in the battle agains Polybotes and during the War Games), it's unknow how she got him. He had his demise after they crossed the Mare Nostrum to Greece on their own due to exhaustion and poisoning. Aurum and Argetum (named Gold and Silver in Latin respctively) are her automaton dogs who can appear whenever she wants to see if someone's lying and if they are, Aurum and Argetum attack them.

Love Interests

Jason Grace

Jason was Reyna's main love interest, being her co-praetor. Reyna states that did not have a realitonship, but given time they could. After Percy tells her that Jason is coming on Argo II, Reyna seen happy and say that she missed him.

Annabeth later says in The Mark of Athena while talking to her that Reyna's voice sounded like broken glass after she found out of Piper's and Jason's relationship. Reyna also felt betrayed by him after the attack, as she discovers he befriended Leo. It did not help that they escaped on the same ship.

Percy Jackson

Reyna initially disliked Percy for unexplained reasons. It isn't until she tells him that she lived at Circe's Island before Percy and Annabeth destroyed it that he realizes why. Later, she invites Percy to become a praetor of the Twelfth Legion as the responsibilities of Camp Jupiter were borne by her alone since the last six months, when her closest friend and co-praetor disappeared. Thus she needs him and tries to tempt him into accepting her offer by telling him that she would prefer him to Octavian, who constantly pesters her for praetor-ship, and that it will draw them closer as "friends," though she may or may not mean romantically. Percy states he already has a girlfriend on reflex, halting her advances on him.

Despite that, they are still friends.

Friends

Annabeth Chase

When they first meet, Reyna asks to talk privately to Annabeth and is eager to listen to her, they get along well initially, though after the attack, her trust of Annabeth gets damaged, but when the two meet again in Fort Sumter, after Annabeth says she won't go to trial, Reyna lets her go away. It's also shown that she believes Annabeth's word enough to travel through the Mare Nostrum, even though she knew the consequences.

Towards the end of The House of Hades, their friendship shows growth when Reyna hugs Annabeth, telling her things would be okay, and they even joke together.

Frank Zhang

They're in neutral terms. Reyna seen to like Frank, accepting him in despite his family story and tells Percy that even though he's naive and inexperiencided, he has a good heart. She's also happy when Jason tells her that he's no longer praetor, giving that position to Frank, Reyna says that he would be a great person to lead a camp with. She also agrees with him when he says that the first order they give would be launch Octavian from a catapult into the ocean.

Family

The only know person who has a relation to Reyna, besides Bellona (though they don't interact), is Hylla, the Amazon Queen. She tried to protect Reyna while she was younger, they went to Circe's island because Hylla wanted to protect Reyna from the war, however, after it's destroyed, Hylla learns how to fight and fights hers and Reyna's way out of the island. The two envetifully part ways, when Reyna wants to follow to Camp Jupiter and Hylla stays with the Amazons. After that, in The Son of Neptune, it's shown that the two sisters are still big friends.

Others

Reyna is pretty neutral in the rest of the Seven Demigods and the Argo II crew, this far, since we don't have information about how she feels about them, though she appears to be in good terms with Hazel, it's possible that she harbors negative feelings towards Leo, as he was the one who attacked, but may forgive him after she knows the whole story. It's also possible that she's jealous of Jason and Piper's relationship, but nothing is corfimed about both cases. Her relationship with Coach Hedge and Nico will probably change in The Blood of Olympus, either for bad, or for good.

Reyna shows dislike towards Octavian, as he bothered her for praetorship, constantly puts her down and also disobeys her orders, he also questions her authority. Besides that, she treats him as equal and respect him. However, she agrees with Frank that their first action as co-praetors should launch Octavian as far as possible from a catapult.
