Reusch is a German manufacturer of sports equipment for football (mainly goalkeeper gloves) and Winter sports.

History

In 1934 Karl Reusch manufactures his first pair of gloves in the attic of his home, the first pairs are being sewed manually by hand. While developing and improving glove engineering for decades in 1972 the needs of professional alpine athletes are finally met. Son Gebhard Reusch joins forces and Reusch enters the industry with a collection of specially designed winter gloves and starts expanding activities in the market. Just one year later in a close co-operation with German goalkeeper legend Sepp Maier, Gebhard Reusch develops the first goalkeeper glove in history. A milestone for the world of soccer and Sepp Maier as well, winning the World Cup just one year later. In 1984 at Reusch's 50th birthday, Reusch is world market leader in the sporting glove segment.[citation needed] Searching for new market segments, in 1989 Reusch introduces its first skiing apparel and 3 years later the first team sport collection. In the beginning of 2000 Reusch expands their product portfolio even further with helmets and goggles.

Company Structure

Beside the company's headquarter in Reutlingen, Germany Reusch has another place of residence in Bozen, South Tirol since June 2009. Supported by distribution partners from app. 50 different countries, each year there is one soccer collection (goalkeeper gloves, apparel, protections, balls and accessories) and one winter collection (Racing, Ski, Board, Nordic, Leisure) available in shops worldwide.

Sponsoring

Since Reusch invented the goalkeeper glove in 1973[citation needed] nearly all soccer goalkeepers have hold up high the trophies of European and World Championship wearing Reusch gloves – starting with German Sepp Maier at the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany right up to Brazilian Marcos Reis at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

In addition Reusch is the official partner of the biggest ski associations (e.g. ASP, SSP, USSA, LSV, and FSP). Also in winter sports Reusch has been dominating all alpine skiing disciplines for more than 30 years. Since 1972 professional Reusch alpine athletes have been winning 75 percent of all medals at all important skiing events.[citation needed]
