Hiresh Haridas (Malayalam: ഹിരേഷ് ഹരിദാസ്, Hirēṣ Haridās ?; born 26 May 1976 in Malacca), better known by his stage name Reshmonu, is a singer-songwriter from Malaysia who does mostly English songs. He is known for songs such as "Walk Away", "Cintaku Pergi", "Hey Waley" and "Superfine". Multi-talented, multiple award-winning Reshmonu has forged a career in the Malaysian and International music scene virtually single-handedly, going from humble beginnings as a sound engineer to becoming one of the most recognizable faces of the Malaysian Music industry over the past eight (8) years.

Of Malayali descent, he became a father in 2005.

Biography

Early career

Reshmonu released his debut album, Monumental, in 2003 under Dhanosh Records, after taking four years to complete.[1] The album took critics and fans by storm with hit singles like Walk Away, Like This, Pirivu and It's You That Matters. The album earned him a whopping seven AIM nominations in 2004, of which he proudly bagged three awards (Best Male Vocals, Best New English Artiste, Best Engineering for an Album). There was no turning back from here. Reshmonu had arrived.

He has since established himself as the premier market entertainer in Malaysia, loved and admired by fans worldwide and respected by his peers, and is among an elite few Malaysian artists who have consistently performed as an opening act for internationally acclaimed acts touring in Malaysia such as Alicia Keys, Prodigy, Pussycat Dolls, Ryan Star of Rockstar Supernova, Black Eyed Peas, Nicole Scherzinger, Girls Generation, and many more.

It's You That Matters was remade in Mandarin by Evonne Hsu, titled Wǒ yào qīng qīng wèi nǐ chàng shǒu gē (我要輕輕為你唱首歌, "I Wanna Sing a Song For You").

Inspired by the success of his AIM wins Reshmonu subsequently released a repackaged album under Sony/Bmg entitled “Monumental – The Journey Continues” in December 2004 which included Kiranya Tiada Lagi (the Malay version of Walk Away) and the chart toping hit Hey Waley.

Universal Music Malaysia took an interest in this rising star and in 2007, collaborated with Reshmonu to release his third Malaysian English album entitled “Superfine” with a gala live outdoor concert at The Curve, Kota Damansara. Over 5,000 fans, representatives from the media and members of the local corporate and music fraternities were there to celebrate this massive achievement. Among the singles from Superfine were Superfine (the title track) and The Way It Makes You Move. It was only a matter of time before Reshmonu would launch his first fully Bahasa Melayu album, titled Harapan in 2009, for which he gained the award for Best Engineered Album in the 16th Music Industry Awards held that same year. This full length Malay album which was exclusively on sale on his very own online record label (R Records) at www.rrecords.net consists of twelve tracks with a various mixture of Samba, Latin and many more interesting afro- Latin themes. This album featured collaborations with other homegrown names such as Noryn Aziz, Hunny Madu, Caprice, Adeep from Fabulous Cats and Mawar Berduri from Ahli Fiqir.

Always one to take his craft up a notch, in 2010, Reshmonu released his first Tamil language single ‘Theendathey’, which cemented his popularity among Malaysia's Tamil community.Following the success of ‘Theendathey’ Reshmonu followed suit with establishing vocal group ‘Ashtaka’ and a full length LP titled ASHTAKA that serviced the Indian Music Industry throughout the year 2012.

When it comes to highly publicised local television roadshow events and reality programmes you can bet Reshmonu is at the top of the list. He has graced with his presence and talent, just to name a few, the Hitz Birthday Bash (ASTRO), Malaysian English Top 10 Awards (ASTRO), Hitz Blast-Off (ASTRO), AIM (NTV7), Jom Heboh (TV3), One In A Million (8TV),So You Think You Can Dance (8TV) and Kemuncak AIM (NTV7). He has thrilled music lovers with his electrifying performances at many major local award shows such as Anugerah Industri Muzik, Anugerah ERA, Anugerah Bintang Popular, Anugerah Seri Angkasa, Ragaa radio Awards, Shout Awards and performed with popular Asian artists at the launch of Channel [V] in Singapore and other local events.

Directorial debut

Taking his passion for music one step further, Reshmonu made his directorial debut on his second music video for ‘The Way It Makes You Move’, the second single from the album ‘Superfine’. This creative directorial debut earned him a nomination in the 2008 AIM Awards under the ‘Best Music Video’ Award category. Not bad for a young man who started out as a sound engineer!

Current project

In 2013, Reshmonu creates history as the 1st Malaysian to collaborate with acclaimed producer, songwriter, singer and musician Jim Beanz, known by many as Timbaland’s protégé on his next album for the UK and North America release in early 2014. Never one to rest on his laurels, Reshmonu is dedicated to raising the bar and pushing his creative boundaries!

The Entrepreneur

As an entrepreneur passionate about music, Reshmonu then set his sights on bigger and better things with the establishment of his very own record label ‘R Records’. Next came his very own commercial recording studio called ‘Shugar’ and a video production house called ‘Shpice’ to cater to artistes/musicians/agencies who need audio/video production services. It didn’t stop there - Reshmonu eventually set up R Talents, which is currently managing himself as well as artiste such as Sports Announcer Roshan (Football Overload), TV Host & Radio personality Phat Fabes, Ashtaka, Beauty Queen & Dj Nadine Ann Thomas and Indie Singer/Songwriter Ain Zulkifly.

As an entrepreneur who has 6 companies under his name today (R Talents, R Music Publishing, R Records, Shpice Pictures (whose clients include Johnnie Walker, Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett, Maxis and L’Oreal), Shugar Studios and Zertopia), nothing is going to stop this immensely talented artist as he strives to create a presence that has never before been seen.
