Renan Luce (born 5 March 1980, Paris) is a French singer and songwriter. His songs are inspired by the 20th century singer and songwriter Georges Brassens and depict everyday life with a dose of humour and poetry.
Biography
Born in Paris, Luce spent all his childhood and adolescence in Plourin-les-Morlaix, Brittany.
His musical career started in a choir with his brother Damien and his sister Claire, afterwards he began classical piano at the conservatory of Brest and then at Saint-Brieuc. He gave up the piano for the saxophone and then taught himself the guitar on which he composed his first songs.
After two years of preparatory classes in Rennes, where he performed in bars and at a few festivals (e.g., support act for Matmatah), he was admitted to the superior school of commerce in Toulouse. He is married to Lolita Séchan, the daughter of Renaud.
Musical career
He has been successful in France with the songs like "Les Voisines" and "La Lettre".
In September 2006 Renan Luce released his first album Repenti that comprises 13 tracks + 3 live versions. The album ended up selling more than 800.000 copies. On October 2009 Renan Luce released his second studio album Le Clan des Miros, which includes the song "On n'est pas à une bêtise prês" from the original soundtrack of the movie "Le petit Nicolas".
The Beginning of his Musical Career
After three years of study at Toulouse, he moved to Paris and quickly decided to focus exclusively on the creation of songs and the show. He quickly found his publisher Olivier Lefebvre (Universal Publishing) and his manager, Jeff Engineering, who settled for several months of concerts at the theater Méry (Place de Clichy). It crosses the public already fans of the first hour, as the singer Renaud or Bénabar, and many artistic directors [ref. needed]. He signed his record deal with Barclay late 2005. Repentant (2005-2009)
His first album, Repentant, released in September 2006, directed by Jean-Louis Pierot and recorded at Studio Manor (in Landes), Studio de la Seine (Paris) and Studio ICP (Brussels). In 2007, it increased to Pezenas, a small town in the South of France to the "Printival." He returns again after starting his career. He signed for a French tour, which drives on the road until spring 2008 to nearly 200,000 spectators. It occurs four times in Quebec during 2007. Over a period of 18 months, all his concerts in Paris is complete [ref. necessary]: Café de la danse, Trianon, La Cigale, Olympia Grand Rex. Supported from the outset by Bernard Chereze on France Inter radio before others did popularize his songs, he has for several months until listed three singles simultaneously in the rankings (Yacast) French: The Letter and The Repentant Neighbour [ ref. needed]. His album is Repenti certified platinum in December 20072 with more than 250 000 copies sold. End of August 2009, the album reached 800,000 copies vendus3 It is also platinum in Belgium in April 20084 (with 40,000 copies sold). Nominated in three categories, it receives two Victoires de la Musique 2008: those of the "revelation album of the year" and "revelation scene of the year." He participated in the show Enfoirés in 2009, entitled The Adele make their film, 21 to 26 January 2009 at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy. He was appointed to the Victoires de la Musique 2009, in the "Song of the Year" for Repenti. This victory is finally won by Thomas Dutronc.
Clan miros (2009-present)
October 12, 2009, his second album, The Clan miros was released; singles are extracted "La Fille de la Bande" and "On n'est pas à une bêtise près", which was used as generic for the film ["Le Petit Nicolas"], and ["Nantes"]. Renan Luce began a tour October 1, 2009 which extends into 2010, including concerts at La Cigale in Paris in October, three in Olympia (complete) from 10 to 12 May 2010 and a passage through Quebec. Following one of his concerts at the Olympia, he received a double platinum album for his second clan miros.
