Retail Relay, Inc., branded RelayFoods.com since 2010,[1] is a privately held American online grocery service and farmers market, operating in select US cities. The company is headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia, and serves customers in the Washington/Baltimore metro area and across northern and central Virginia.

Relay Foods integrates the offerings of hundreds of local farmers and artisan, organic, and conventional producers to deliver a curated selection of high quality, local, and gourmet foods and grocery staples directly to customers.

Mission

Relay Foods' mission is to make eating quality, healthy, and sustainable food simple. To accomplish this, Relay educates people about the food they eat, creates connections between producers and end consumers, and brings food to easily accessible locations for customers to pick up.[2]

Relay Foods has been certified as a B Corp since December 2012, a classification that reflects the company’s commitment to local communities, the health of the environment, and its workers’ quality of life.[3]

In April 2013, Relay raised an additional $8.25 million to expand, redesign its website, and launch a mobile application.[9] The company began serving Williamsburg, Virginia, in May 2013 and Lynchburg, Virginia, in September 2013.[10][11] The new mobile site was launched in August 2013.[12]
