Regina Joyce

Regina Joyce (born February 7, 1957) is a retired female long-distance runner originally from Ireland. She competed as an NCAA athlete in the U.S. for the University of Washington, where she set school records in every event from 1.5 km to 10 km. As a collegian she was the first female athlete to break 9 minutes in the 3000 m. run.[1] She competed for her native country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. There she ended up in 23rd place in the women's marathon. Joyce set her personal best in the classic distance (2:32.56) in 1982.
She became an American citizen in 1993[2] and continues to run in the Masters division.
