Red5 is a leading open-source media streaming server[1] implemented in Java ,[2] which provides services similar to those offered by the proprietary Adobe Flash Media Server [3] and Wowza Media Server[4] including:[5]
- Streaming Audio/Video (FLV and MP3)
- Recording Client Streams (FLV only)
- Shared Objects
- Live Stream Publishing
- Remoting (Action Message Format)
The project was started in September 2005[6] and as of 2008[7] is now maintained at Google Code.[8] Version 1.0 was released on December 3, 2012[9] and is available under the Apache License (version 2.0) [10]
