Read Not Dead

Read Not Dead has been run at Shakespeare's Globe since 1995.[1] The series is a 30 year project to stage “performances with scripts” of each play written between 1576 and 1642 by Shakespeare’s contemporaries. As of the 9th of June 2013, when Robert Greene's The Honourable History of Friar Bacon and Friar Bungay was staged, 210 different performances have taken place.
As well as at the Globe, in 2013 Read Not Dead will be taken to both the Wilderness Festival and Glastonbury Festival.[2]
Many actors have taken part since the series' inauguration, including: David Oakes, Alan Cox, Richard Armitage, Frances Barber, Paul Bettany, Kenneth Branagh, Daniel Craig, Benjamin Whitrow, Carey Mulligan, Jason Isaacs, Ben Whishaw.
