Raymond "Duggie" Fisher

Raymond "Duggie" Fisher (October 15, 1935-May 16, 1988) was a science fiction fan from Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was a fanzine fan, convention fan and club fan.

Duggie and his wife, Joyce Worley Fisher, co-chaired the 27th World Science Fiction Convention, known as St. Louiscon, in 1969. He was on the con-committee for Ozarkcon 1-5 in St. Louis 1965 through 1969. He was a founding member of the Poplar Bluff Science Fiction Club in the 1950s and Ozark Science Fiction Association (OSFA) in St. Louis in the 1960s. He was also a member of The Saturday People, in St. Louis, in the 1960s.

Duggie's science fiction fanzine ODD was nominated for a Hugo Award in 1968.

Duggie and Joyce Worley were married July 21, 1956 and the marriage lasted until 1970.

Later, Joyce married Arnie Katz and became quite active in Las Vegas fandom.

Raymond became a father on May 8, 1977.

In 1984, after hurricane Alicia, he moved to Galveston, TX; he remained there until his death. Duggie died in 1988 from complications of diabetes. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered at the Poplar Bluff public library, a place where he spent most of his youth.

He is survived by a son, Jason E. Fisher, of Wood river, IL.
