Ravipadu is a major panchayat situated 4 km West of Narasaraopet along the Hyderabad highway. There are over 12 thousand people with various socio-religious backgrounds. Majority of the people depend on cultivation as the main source of income. Hinduism and Christianity are the two major religions in the village.

The village is divided into many colonies as Main Village, Karcheri, Kotturu, Jaripet, Jamminagar, and separate Colonies for Backward castes along the Narasaraopet highway. Over 4,000 acres (16 km2) of land is under irrigation which include wet and dry land. Paddy, chillies, Cotton and other commercial crops are produced annually. Tobacco once produced here was well acclaimed all over Andhra and India.

It is believed that a group of Brahmins habituated this place starting from the middle of 17 th century. They called this place as "Ravipadu" and named after a 200 year old tree "Ravi Chettu" on the back of the village lake. Later it was destroyed in 1998 cyclone.

There are many Hindu temples dedicated for Lord Rama, Lord Shiva and other Gods,these temples have historical values as they are built centuries before. After the arrival of British through missionaries some got converted and later Roman Catholic Church (Immaculate Conception Church) built during the British Colonial time (1890) is one of the oldest Churches in Andhra Pradesh. There are ten schools in Ravipadu run by different organizations. Also, the village hosts an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) where different job oriented vocational trainings are offered. Catholic missionaries play a major role in education, there are 3 Roman Catholic Schools in the church compound. It is said that many people from this village had fought for Nagarjuna sagar Irrigation project. There are over 300 people living in US, UK, Italy and other countries for better fortunes and careers.
