Rasen-Antholz (Italian: Rasun-Anterselva) is a municipality in South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about 60 km northeast of the city of Bolzano, on the border with Austria.
Geography
As of 30 November 2010, it had a population of 2,871 and an area of 121.1 km².[1]
Rasen-Antholz borders the following municipalities: Bruneck, Gsies, Percha, Olang, Sand in Taufers, Welsberg-Taisten and Sankt Jakob in Defereggen (Austria).
Frazioni
The municipality of Rasen-Antholz contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Antholz Niedertal (Anterselva di Sotto), Antholz Mittertal (Anterselva di Mezzo), Antholz Obertal (Anterselva di Sopra), Neunhäusern (Nove Case), Niederrasen (Rasun di Sotto) and Oberrasen (Rasun di Sopra).
History
Coat-of-arms
The shield is gules a pile reversed on sable and argent. It is the sign of the Lords of Rassen, a noble family of Judges, which ruled the village from 1353. The emblem was adopted in 1967.[2]

According to the 2011 census, 98.40% of the population speak German, 1.16% Italian and 0.44% Ladin as first language.[3]
