The Lidbondentoernooi is a football tournament in Suriname that has existed since 2006. Before that time there were two tournaments: the Border District Tournament and the Inter-District Tournament, which existed between 1979 and 2005.Onder the national level, traditionally consisting of two levels of competition, SVB-league and SVB First Class, there are 20 regional federations ("lidbonden") divided into 10 "border districts" (around the capital Paramaribo) and 10 'districts', further away from the capital. The SVB an annual tournament, the "Border District Tournament", the "border districts" (usually with the champions and runners up of each) since 1973 has organized and one for the other "districts", the Inter-District Tournament since 1979. The winners and some runners-up were eligible for promotion to the national levels (sometimes even directly to the top flight). Since the marketing year 2005-2006, the two tournaments of the lidbondentoernooi merged.
