S. V. Rajendra Singh Babu (Kannada: ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಬಾಬು) is a Kannada film maker and producer. He was born and brought up in Mysore. His father late Shankar Singh was one of the great producers in Kannada Film Industry and has produced many films under the banner Mahatma Pictures (Mysore). Rajendra Singh Babu has made movies in different genres. He has written and directed love stories, War, suspense thrillers and comedy movies. Many of his films have been adapted from novels or short stories.[1] He is not only famous in Karnataka but also across all of India. Babu has won numerous awards for his films and has also directed movies in the Hindi and Telugu languages. Vijayalakshmi Singh, wife of actor Jai Jagadish is his sister.

Early life

Rajendra Singh Babu born in "Mysore", "Karnataka". His father Late Shankar Singh producer and director of Kannada film and mother Prathima Devi glamorous star of yesteryear of Kannada cinema. In one of interview Babu mentioned that his father wanted him to be doctor but Babu's passion in camera and films destined him to movie industry .Hailing from a family of movie makers,Babu was fascinated with films like great escape, guns of navarone,and bridge on the river kwai and many others.

Awards Honor and Recognition

He is the winner of the president's Rajat Kamal Award for best film and director thrice for movies Bandhana, Muttina Haara and Mungarina Minchu. Babu has won many state awards for his films.[9] and has been honored with Puttanna Kangal prestigious Award given by the Karnataka State Govt. to a film personality on the lines of Dada Saheb Phalke Award in Karnataka. Babu films "Simhada Mari Sainya" and "Bandhana" are screened at international film festivals. Here is the list of few important awards.
