Raimondi College (Chinese: 高主教書院) is a prestigious, aided[1] co-educational English-medium secondary school located at Robinson Road, Mid-Levels, Hong Kong. It was named after Bishop Timoleon Raimondi, the first Vicar Apostolic of Hong Kong. The Raimondi College Primary-Section moved to Stubbs Road in Wan Chai in 2008.

School history

Raimondi College was opened in 1958. It was dedicated to the memory of Bishop Raimondi, the first Catholic Bishop of Hong Kong. Raimondi College was the first Catholic Diocesan secondary school established in Hong Kong. Father Joseph Carra was appointed as Supervisor and Principal.

  • In 1961, Mr. Edward Chan was appointed as Principal; the Old Boys' Association was founded
  • In 1964, Mr. Y. S. Mui was appointed as Principal.
  • In 1966, the Parent-Teacher Association was founded.
  • In 1967, three secondary 6 classes were opened after the completion of the Form 6 Building
  • In 1968, Mr. A. C. Morales was appointed as Principal of secondary sectio.
  • In 1969, the Student Council was founded.
  • In 1971, the New Extension Building was completed.
  • In 1978, the secondary section of the College became a fully aided school.
  • In 1990, the Student Council was restructured and renamed as Student Union.
  • In 1991, Father J. Carra, the supervisor died.
  • In 1992, Father J. B. Tsang was appointed as supervisor.
  • In 1995, Mr. G. W. Au was appointed as principal of secondary section.
  • In 1996, renovation of Carra Hall was completed.
  • In 1998, the Education Department granted approval for the Secondary Section to use English as the medium of instruction.
  • In 2000, Secondary 6 & 7 became co-educational.
  • In 2002, the Raimondi Old Boys' Association was renamed as Raimondi Alumni Association.
  • In 2004, external school review was completed.
  • In 2008, both the primary and the secondary section became co-educational.
  • In 2011, the school announced the re-opening of the kindergarten section which will be located at North Point.[2]
  • In 2012, Mr. Peter S. T. Lee took over as the new supervisor after the resignation of Rev. John Baptist Tsang. .
  • In 2013, Mr. G. W. Au, the principal, announced his retirement from the school. The principal of Lai King Catholic Secondary School, Ms. Louisa Lo took his place as the new principal in September.

School Buildings

The school consists of 3 Blocks, Block A (The Main Building), Block B (The Form Two Building), and Block C (The Form Six Building).

Raimondi College is the tallest secondary school in Hong Kong. Block A of the College has two exits, with the ground floor exit at Glenealy and the eighth floor exit at Robinson Road.

There are totally 14 floors.

Fees and Charges

Since this is an aided school there will be no annual and tuition fees. There will only be Tong Fai which is around 200 dollars for junior section and around 400 for senior section.

Facilities

1 Junior Science Laboratory, 1 Biology Laboratory, 2 Physics Laboratories and 2 Chemistry Laboratories, 3 Staff Rooms, 2 Computer Rooms, 1 CCTV Studio, 1 MMLC, 1 Counselling Room, 1 Student Union Office, 1 Library, 2 Halls, 1 Music Room, 1 Geography Room, 1 Gymnasium, 1 Art Room and 1 Home Management Room. All rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with IT facilities.
