Rahul Banerjee (Bengali: রাহুল বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়) (born Kolkata, 15 December 1986) is an Indian sportsman who competes in archery. He is son of Ashok Banerjee and Kalpana Banerjee.
Career
Banerjee started archery at the age of thirteen.[1] His sister Dola Banerjee is also an ace archer. His first International appearance was in Youth World Championship in 2004 & won silver in Team Events, which is the first ever world level medal for Indian Archery. He won several Gold medals at the World Cup Archery in 2008, 2009 & 2010 also won Individual Gold Medal in Asian Grand Prix in the year 2009&2010. In the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, he won Gold Medal in Men's Individual recurve event and Bronze in Team event.[2] He won Bronze in 16th 2010 Asian Games Guangzhou in team event.
On 21 June 2012, Rahul Banerjee booked his ticket to London Olympics along with Tarundeep Rai and Jayanta Talukdarby finishing second in the final qualification meet at Ogden, United States.[3]
Awards
He has been honored by Arjuna Award in the year 2011.[4]
