Rahim Moeini Kermanshahi (Persian: رحیم معینی کرمانشاهی, born February 6, 1922) is an Iranian lyricist. He is one of the pioneering songwriters in the history of Iranian traditional music.

Biography

Master Rahim Moeini Kermanshahi was born in 1922 in Kermanshah, Iran. He left his hometown at a young age for Tehran to pursue painting, but his talent and creativity in poetry made him one of the greatest lyricists, poets and historians of Iran. His masterpiece is a sixteen volume history of Iran after Islam in the form of beautiful Persian classical poetry called Shahkar, which contains over 160,000 lines of poetry over more than 5,000 pages.[citation needed] In 2007 he was honored as Lord of Speech by the National Organization of Iranian poets, musicians, artists, historians, philosophers and literature masters.[citation needed] During his 60 years dedication to Persian literature and poetry he published over 20 books and composed more than 500 songs. His songs are being remastered every year by various artists in different countries, mostly in Iran and the United States.

Through his many admirers and friends he was urged to write lyrics for the great classical Persian singers of the day. He was very successful as a lyricist, and he wrote for many years working side by side with the most talented musicians and singers, his five hundred plus songs made his fame rise to a level of celebrity in the early 1960s. He wrote many poetry books for a huge fan base that loves his style which is completely unique. All his books are among best sellers, and continually being published still today. Today he is known as the most famous living poet and song writer of Iran.[citation needed] His life's work he is most proud of is the sixteen volumes of books he has been working on for the past two decades called Shahkar (Master Piece). These books are the entire history of Persia/Iran after Islam in the form of poetry. Each volume is anticipated greatly before release. He has read also referred to more than 140 books before analyzing the history and bringing it to rhymed poetry. The first nine volumes have already been published and are hard to find, number 10 is in printing.

He has been married to Eshrat Atoofi for more than sixty years, and together they have five children.( Shirin,Hossein,Noushin,Maryam,Farhad)
