Rafel Sastre Reus (born 22 October 1975 in Binissalem, Balearic Islands) is a Spanish footballer who plays for CD Atlético Baleares as a right defender.

Football career

For 14 professional seasons Sastre represented RCD Mallorca B, Cádiz CF (two years in the third division) and Real Sporting de Gijón. With the Asturias outfit he amassed totals of 257 games with four goals in the second level, including 37 in the 2007–08 campaign as the club returned to La Liga after a ten-year hiatus; during this timeframe, he eventually gained club captaincy.

Sastre made his first appearance in the top flight at almost 33, in 2008–09's opener, a 1–2 home loss to Getafe CF[1] and, during his two top flight years with the team, appeared in 44 league matches combined, with Sporting also retaining its status in the 2009–10 season.

In June 2011, aged nearly 36, Sastre left Gijón after ten years with the same team, and signed for SD Huesca in division two.

Personal

Sastre's younger brother, Lluís (ten years his junior), is also a footballer. A midfielder, he made his grooming at FC Barcelona, although he never represented its main squad.

Both coincided at Huesca in the 2011–12 season.
