Raúl Iván Fabiani Bosio (born 23 February 1984) is an Equatoguinean footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club Huracán.

Club career

Born in Valencia, Spain, Fabiani has spent most of his senior career in the lower levels of Spanish football, mainly competing in the Valencian Community. At the age of 27, he made his Segunda División debut in 2011–12 with CD Alcoyano. He had scored 12 Segunda División B goals in the previous season to help the team return to the second tier after an absence of 42 years.

Fabiani also represented Villarreal CF B, Moralo CP, CP Cacereño, UD Lanzarote, CD Teruel, Villajoyosa CF and Huracán Valencia CF. On 5 August 2013, the 29 year old moved teams and country, signing with Indian club Pune FC.[1][2]

On 21 September 2013, he made his debut for Pune FC in the I-League, which was an eventful affair, as he scored two goals, provided assist in one and was also sent off after 77 minutes of play for being booked for the second time.[3] He sustained an injury while playing against Mohun Bagan and ruled out for 4 months. So on 26 October he was released and replaced by Riga Mustapha.[4]

International career

Fabiani was born to a father with roots in Sicily, Italy and an Equatorial Guinean mother related to Edmundo Bossio Dioko, a politician executed during the regime of Macias. On 29 January 2011 he received his first call for Equatorial Guinea,[5] but he did not play in the friendly match against Congo on 9 February 2011.

The following month Fabiani received another call-up for an exhibition game against Gambia, but again had to be contend with being an unused substitute. This led to Alcoyano club's management asking the player to reject international calls for the remainder of the season, as he had already missed four league games.[6] Fabiani subsequently refused to turn up for the national team in two qualifying matches for the London Olympics against Nigeria in April 2011.[7]

As a result, Fabiani was omitted from national team roster until Henri Michel resigned from his position as national team coach. After the departure of the Frenchman, Brazilian Gílson Paulo arrived at Malabo as his replacement and the player was included in the preliminary list for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.[8]

Fabiani did not play in the goalless friendly match against South Africa on 6 January 2012, but appeared shortly thereafter in a non-FIFA recognized match against Cameroonian club Coton Sport FC de Garoua. He was confirmed in the roster of 23 players for the CAN tournament, played on home soil[9] and made his full international debut for the eventual quarterfinalists in the last group stage game, a 0–1 loss against Zambia.[10]
