RBC Dexia Investor Services, established in January 2006, was equally owned by Royal Bank of Canada and Dexia.

RBC Investor Services offers institutional investors worldwide an integrated suite of products, including global custody, fund and pension administration, securities lending, shareholder services, analytics and other related services. With USD 2.7 trillion in client assets under administration, RBC Dexia Investor Services ranks among the world’s top 10 global custodians.[citation needed]

Headquartered in London, UK, RBC Investor Services has 5,500 employees who advise clients from offices in 15 countries on four continents. Operations are conducted mainly by RBC Investor Services Bank in Luxembourg and RBC Investor Services Trust in Canada, and their affiliates and branches around the world. José Placido is the company's Chief Executive Officer.

On July 27, 2012, the Royal Bank of Canada completed acquisition of the 50 percent stake that RBC did not already own in the joint venture RBC Dexia Investor Services Limited (RBC Dexia) from Banque Internationale à Luxembourg S.A. (BIL) (formerly Dexia banque Internationale à Luxembourg S.A.). Following the close of this transaction, RBC owns 100 percent of what is now known as RBC Investor Services.
