Quality Save is a chain of discount stores operating in northern England. They are supplied by another chain of discount chains TJ Morris (Trading as Home Bargains) which are sometimes mistaken to be the same company.

History

Quality Save was founded in 1974 by Bob Rudkin. He started off with an indoor market stall in Walkden and a small single unit shop in Farnworth[1] (Which is no longer a Quality Save store). The Quality Save Head Office/Store is in Swinton.[2]

Stores

Quality Save stores have a red and sky blue branding which used to be similar to the Home Bargains branding until it was changed to avoid confusion between the two companies, although 11 stores still carry the old signs. They have a total of 21 stores including the head store in Swinton. They can usually be found in major shopping streets as well as in shopping centres. Stores range from small to medium outlets. The largest store that Quality Save operate in is in the Stretford Arndale in Stretford. Like Home Bargains they also acquired some of the former Woolworths outlets.[3] In November 2012, they closed their temporary unit in Urmston and opened their brand new unit in the new Eden Square Shopping Centre. A couple of weeks before this, they also closed their unit in Barnsley to open a much bigger unit just a few feet down the road.

Although the slogan for the company is "Quality Brands - Quality Prices", the stores carrying the old signs display the slogan as "Top Brands - Bottom Prices" which is the Home Bargains Slogan. In 2010, Quality Save stores began playing a clip every fifteen minutes informing customers of their "Star Buy" deals, that they are cheaper than pound stores and of the company's alcohol policy. These clips end saying "Quality Save. Quality Brands - Quality Prices" the company name and slogan.
