Quadron is a Danish duo consisting of singer Coco O (full name Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj) and musician/producer Robin Hannibal (full name Robin Braun). The group calls itself and the music they provide, electronic soul.

The self-titled debut album Quadron was released in late July 2009. Paste Magazine named Quadron "Best of What's Next" in August 2010,[1] and New York Magazine named Quadron's self-titled album number 7 in their top 10 best albums of the year.[2]

In 2011, Quadron collaborated with American DJ and record producer Kaskade for the song "Waste Love" off his album Fire & Ice.

The name of the band refers to the multi-racial heritage of the band members.[3]

In popular culture

  • Quadron contributed seven songs on the soundtrack for the Hella Joof movie, Hush Little Baby[4] including the film's theme song "Slippin'".
  • In 2011, Quadron contributed the track "Samba De Verão" to the Red Hot Organizations charitable album Red Hot+Rio 2. The album is a follow-up to the 1996 Red Hot + Rio. Proceeds from the sales were donated to raise awareness and money to fight HIV/AIDS and related health and social issues.

Solo and other projects

  • When Quadron are not acting as a duo, both are part of an electronica collective, Boom Clap Bachelors, who in early 2008 released the album Just Before Your Lips.
  • Coco has also previously been in the Karen Corps, and Robin Hannibal has collaborated with Nobody Beats The Beats, Clemens, Jokeren and L.O.C.
  • Quadron's rendition of "Baby Be Mine" was also featured in 'Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man'.
  • Hannibal has concurrently been working on his own projects, Owusu & Hannibal and Parallel Dance Ensemble.
  • Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj is featured in Chip tha Ripper's newest single Me Too, which is produced by Blended Babies and set to appear on the rapper's upcoming album.[5]
  • Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj is featured on Tyler, The Creator's song TreeHome95 from his album Wolf which was released on 2 April 2013. On 26 February 2013, she joined him on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and performed the song.[6] The two of them allegedly met at Roskilde Festival in 2011.
  • Robin Hannibal is one-half of the duo Rhye, along with Canadian musician Michael Milosh. After releasing two tracks to critical acclaim, they have released their first album Woman on 4 March 2013.[7][8]
  • In April 2013 it was announced that Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj (as Coco O) would contribute to the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann's big-budget adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's literary classic The Great Gatsby, produced by Jay-Z.[9] She contributes with the song "Where The Wind Blows and joins Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, Gotye and Florence and the Machine, among others, on the soundtrack. The album is out on 6 May 2013.
