Qingdao Metro (Chinese: 青岛地铁) is a metro system under construction as of 2009 in the city of Qingdao, Shandong province in China. It is expected to be completed in 2015.[1]

The construction of the first line, Line M3, started on November 30, 2009. With 13 billion yuan ($1.9 billion) of funding, it is expected to be completed in late 2015 with a total of 22 stations, a total length of 25.1 km and a daily ridership of 235,000 passengers.[2][3]

Next to be completed will be Line M2, which will have 27 stations and be 29.6 km long, and is currently expected to be finished around 2016-2017. A further line, Line M1, is due to be completed around 2020.

According to the published plans, ultimately there will be 5 lines in total with a combined length of 231.5 km. All work is scheduled to be finished prior to 2050.
