Pushpa M Bhargava is the founder-director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology situated in Hyderabad, India.[1][2] He is regarded as the architect of modern biology and biotechnology in India.

Education

Prof Bhargava studied at the Theosophical and Queen’s colleges at Varanasi and Lucknow Universities, and obtained his Ph.D. at the age of 21.

Career

He has worked in the USA, United Kingdom, France and Germany, and has travelled in over 50 countries. He has over 125 major scientific publications to his credit, as well as over 300 articles and write-ups on a variety of subjects in the best known publications around the world.

Awards

He is a recipient of over 100 national and international honors and awards including the Padma Bhushan, the Légion d'honneur and the National Citizens Award India. He was also awarded the BioSpectrum Life Time Achievement for his over four decades of untiring contributions to biotech development in India.
