Publifolha
Created in 1995, Publifolha, Grupo Folha’s book-publishing division, has released more than 1,000 titles and currently has 600 books in print.
Its first book was “Primeira Página”, a collection of front pages from newspapers Folha da Manhã, Folha da Noite and Folha de S. Paulo since 1921.This title’s latest reprint, issued in February 2011, offers 223 pages, with covers from 1921 to 2010.
Publifolha concentrates on the news, tourism, languages, general reference, children’s tales and cooking areas. It is currently the leading travel guide publisher in Brazil, thanks mainly to the “Visual Guide” series, which offers accurate information about countries, cities and regions, with travel itineraries and leisure suggestions for tourists.
Not sure how objective the author is or if the author has any association with the company. I would like to address above mentioned so called "Accurate Information" claim.
We have their publication "Top 10 RIO DE JANEIRO". The book, in our opinion is a complete waste of money and a huge disappointment. We got a feeling that they might get some kickbacks from restaurants and bars which they advertise because the book keep cross-referring to exact same place while there are many top restaurants and bars (for example, the top 10 best bars in the world has one located in RIO.) this book just dont provide it.
On the other hand, those restaurants and bars has incomplete information such as 1) wrong telephone, 2)not even listing their opening days and hours, 3) wrong price level. (There are some restaurants which the book says are below 30 Reals but actually are above 75 Reals for all the meals. This might make your trip hard and unpleasant as you travel to some parts of RIO and spent taxi money to get to restaurant to realize either restaurant is closed or over-priced. This might cause you to take taxi again to another part of RIO. The money adds up very quickly and time just wasted.
The most important part is that some restaurants they suggested are in dangerous area. We almost got assaulted and was a police man who came to save us.
