The Province of Sassari (Italian: Provincia di Sassari, Sardinian: Provìntzia de Tàtari, Sassarese: Prubìnzia di Sàssari) is a province in the autonomous island region of Sardinia in Italy. Its capital is the city of Sassari.
History
Geography
It has an area of 4,282 km², and a total population of 322,326 (2001). There are 66 municipalities (comuni) in the province, the largest of which are Sassari (pop. 120,729 in 2001 census), Alghero (38,404), Porto Torres (21,064), Sorso (12,842), Ozieri (11,334), Ittiri (9,000) and Sennori (7,300).[3]
