The Province of Chieti (Italian: Provincia di Chieti) is a province in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Chieti.
It has an area of 2,588 square kilometres (999 sq mi), and a total population of almost 400,000 (2012). There are 104 comunes (Italian: comuni) in the province , see Comunes of the Province of Chieti.
The city of Chieti lies on a crest along the Pescara river with its unmistakable profile with the high belltower of San Giustino against the sky, a few km away from the Adriatic Sea, and with the Majella and Gran Sasso mountains in the background. It was a Roman town with the name of Teate, and an important medieval centre, so that Roman and medieval ruins are found side by side.
