Proletarsk (Russian: Пролета́рск) is a town and the administrative center of Proletarsky District of Rostov Oblast, Russia, located on the Rostov-on-DonBaku railway. Population: 20,267 (2010 Census);[1] 19,572 (2002 Census);[2] 19,422 (1989 Census).[3]

Geography

The Manych River flows through the town.

History

It was formerly the Cossack stanitsa of Velikoknyazheskaya (Великокняжеская). Soviet science fiction writer G. P. Amatuni was born there in 1916.
