Fotbal Club Progresul Bucureşti (previously named Fotbal Club Național Bucureşti) is a Romanian football club from Bucharest, founded in 1944.
It played for 32 seasons in the Liga I, being ranked 15th in the Liga I All-Time Table.
In 2009 it experienced great financial problems, and was demoted to the Fourth League, the Liga IV, where it still plays today.
History
The team won the Romanian Cup in 1960 and played another 4 finals in 1958, 1997, 2003 and 2006.
One of the club's biggest successes was the elimination of Serbian side Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA Cup competition in the late 1990s.
Surprisingly, the club was relegated to the Liga II at the end of the 2006-07 season, finishing 16th out of 18 teams.
In April 2009 the club was kicked out of the championship because of financial reasons and will start the 2009-10 season in the Liga IV. Prior to this, only a few days before, they were kicked out from the Cotroceni Stadium by BNR, because of debts.
The club started the 2009-10 season in the Liga IV. It finished on the following positions: 7th in 2010, 8th in 2011, 10th in 2012 and 7th in 2013.
