Priyanandanan is a film and drama director from Kerala, India.[1] His second movie Pulijanmam bagged the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 2006.[2]

Biography

Priyanandanan is a native of Vallachira in Thrissur District, Kerala.[3] He was born as the son of Poochinippadam Thottipparambil Ramakrishnan and Kochammini. He is married to Ajitha and has two childran, Aparna and Ashwaghosh.[4]

Priyanandanan started in career as an actor in stage shows. He used to act mostly female roles during the early part of his career. Later he ventured into direction of stage shows. He used to be known as Priyan Vallachira at that time.[5]

Priyanandanan started his career in movies as assistant director to popular film makers P. T. Kunju Muhammed and K. R. Mohanan. His first movie was Neythukaran (2001) and it told the story of a weaver, a supporter of E. M. S. who dies the next day after his idol dies. Malayalam actor Murali won the National Award for the Best Actor for this film.
