Private is the first book of the Jack Morgan series. This novel was written by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro. The Private London series was spun off from the Jack Morgan series.
Plot
Jack Morgan reincarnated Private, a private investigation company started by his father. His father ended up serving in prison and, shortly before his death, provided the resources for Jack to rebuild Private into a bigger and better company with branches around the world. In the book, Jack Morgan places his focus on three cases. One is a huge NFL gambling scandal that Jack's uncle wants Private to investigate. Organized crime is behind this scandal.
The second case involves hunting down the persons who have murdered eighteen schoolgirls. The police have no leads as to the identity of the killers or of their motives. The third case involves the murder of the wife of Jack's best friend. Mixed in with these cases are Jack's dealing with his brother's gambling problems that have landed his brother in serious trouble with organized crime and with Jack's guilt over having to leave one of his men behind to die during a helicopter crash when he was a marine copter pilot in the middle of the war in Afghanistan.
