Press Taylor (born January 13, 1988) is an American Football coach for the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL.
College career
Taylor saw lots of success early in his playing career at Butler Community College where the Grizzlies won back-to-back NJCAA national championships with Taylor as the starting Quarterback. As a sophomore at Butler, Press threw for over 2,300 yards, ran for 300 yards, and accounted for 27 touchdowns while completing 61% of his passes, including completing 20 of his 32 passes for 280 yards and 1 touchdown in the 2008 NJCAA National Championship game versus Snow College (Utah).
Taylor was rated by Rivals.com as the #2 pro-style Quarterback in the 2009 junior college rankings and chose Marshall in the December signing period over interest from Louisville and Colorado State. Taylor played quarterback at Marshall University for 2 seasons and lettered both years (2009-2010), playing in 13 games. He saw his first game action at Virginia Tech, going 1-2 for 10 yards. Press also rushed for 15 yards on 3 carries in the Thundering Herd's 2009 Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl victory over Ohio University.
Coaching career
Press joined the University of Tulsa coaching staff under Head Coach Bill Blankenship during the spring of 2011 as the Offensive Graduate Assistant/Quarterbacks Coach (Tulsa did not have a full-time QB coach, allowing Taylor to handle those duties). During his 2 seasons at Tulsa (2011, 2012), the Golden Hurricane compiled a 19-8 record and won the 2012 Conference USA Championship as well as the 2012 AutoZone Liberty Bowl defeating Iowa State. In 2011, under Taylor's direction, senior QB GJ Kinne was named 2nd Team All-CUSA and threw for over 3,000 yards.
In February 2013, Press joined Chip Kelly's staff with the Philadelphia Eagles to serve as the Offensive Quality Control coach.
Personal life
Taylor is the younger brother of Miami Dolphins Quarterbacks Coach Zac Taylor. Press is originally from Norman, Oklahoma and was the high school teammate of former University of Oklahoma and current Detroit Lions star wide receiver Ryan Broyles at Norman High School. Taylor's father, Sherwood, was a defensive back and captain for Oklahoma and head coach Barry Switzer from 1976-1979.
