Present is a Belgian progressive rock group formed by guitarist Roger Trigaux in 1979.

Biography

Trigaux was a founding member of Univers Zero and participated on the first two albums. After Heresie (1979) he left Univers Zero to concentrate on his own vision and founded Present. The early lineup of Present featured fellow Univers Zero members Daniel Denis and Christian Genet playing drums and bass respectively.

Present disbanded after releasing Le poison qui rend fou in 1985, but reformed a decade later. The new lineup featured Roger's son Réginald as a second guitarist, another former Univers Zero member, Guy Segers, on bass, and drummer Dave Kerman from the 5uu's.

In September 2009 Present played a gig together with Univers Zero in France (Cap Découverte / Maison de la Musique - Blaye-les-Mines) which was a very great pleasure for both groups. They played two compositions by Roger Trigaux.

Present Acoustic

Present Acoustic is a "classical" variant of the band featuring grand piano, percussion and vocals. It premièred at a Rock in Opposition festival in Southern France in April 2007, where they performed as "Present", their regular act, and as "Present Acoustic", where they played two grand pianos, "a lot of percussion" and sang.[1]

In 2011 Present joined forces with Belgian groups Univers Zero and Aranis to form a 17-member ensemble called Once Upon a Time in Belgium. They premiered at the fourth edition of the Rock in Opposition festival in September 2011, where they performed "New York Transformations", a work composed by Kurt Budé of Univers Zero. Once Upon a Time in Belgium appears in the documentary film Romantic Warriors II: A Progressive Music Saga About Rock in Opposition.[2]
