Prachi Tehlan (born 2 October, 1989 in Delhi) titled as “Queen of Court” by The Times of India & “Lass of The Rings” by The Indian Express, has been the Captain of the Indian Netball Team in Commonwealth Games 2010 held in Delhi and in other major Asian Championships in year 2010-11. Under her able leadership and Captaincy, Indian team won its first medal under in 1st South Asian Beach Games held at Hambantota, Sri Lanka in 2011. Prachi has played both Basketball and Netball at professional level and has won various medals during her more than 11 years of active sporting career.

Career

Prachi is a Post Graduate MBA in HR from Indraprastha University, New Delhi. She graduated from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University. She has also worked on various projects with the Development Bank of Singapore, Deloitte and Accenture prior joining 1-800 Sports.in. She is young, enthusiastic and dynamic. Currently, in charge of business management, marketing, networking, handling B2B, institutional sales, Prachi brings with her great Sporting skills, Exposure of International Sports and strong leadership skills.

Education

She started her schooling from Montfort School, New Delhi. Graduated in B.Com (Hons.) from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi and completing her PG Diploma in Marketing Management from IMT, Ghaziabad. She enrolled in Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, GGSIP University, New Delhi where she completed her Post Graduation in MBA (HR and Marketing).

Sports

She started her sports career from Basketball at National level from School. She got selected to attend the Indian Camp thrice in 2004, in Cuttack (Orissa)

Basketball

  • 2002-2007
    • Played 2 sub junior nationals (under-14), Pondicherry and Karnataka. (2002-03)
    • Represented Delhi 8 times in under-17 category out of which the team secured position 3 times. Played on the grounds of- Kotkapura (Punjab), Chittoor (AP), Gotan (Rajasthan), Kangra (HP), Ajmer (Rajasthan), Jaisalmer (Rajasthan), Chandigarh, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Hyderabad etc.
    • Represented Delhi 3 times in under-19 category and secured 1st position all the three times. Played on the grounds of Delhi.
  • 2008
    • 2008: Secured 1st position in Basketball inter-college and got 1st position in Inter University at Bhubaneshwar and All India at Nelloor
  • 2009
    • 2009: Secured 1st position in Basketball inter-college and participated in Inter University held in PUNJAB.

Netball

  • Won a Gold Medal in 54th National Games held in Jharkhand (Dhanbad), 2011. Awarded with scholarship of INR 1, 00,000 from U.P government.
  • Played Inter College thrice and scored 1st position.
  • Represented Delhi in Senior Nationals and received scholarship of INR 30,000
  • Participated in 6th Youth Asian Championship, 2008 held in Hong Kong.
  • Participated in 7th Senior Asian Championship, 2009 held in Malaysia.
  • Visited Singapore for practice matches.
  • Attended 21 days training camp in Australia for Commonwealth Games 2010 practice.
  • Played Indo-Singapore series, 2010 held in Delhi & Noida, won it by 5-0.
  • Captain of the team in 7th Youth Asian Championship, 2010 held in Delhi.
  • Participated and captained the Senior Indian Netball Team in Commonwealth Games 2010 held in Delhi.
  • Represented India and was the captain of the senior team in 6th Nation Cup, Singapore-2010.
  • Represented India and was captain of Indian team in South Asian Beach Games, Sri Lanka (2011).
  • Position- 2nd. This was the first ever medal won by Indian team at international level.
  • Nov, 2013- Supported Netball Development Trust (NDT), United Kingdom, as their Brand Ambassador from India on their tour to India (Kolkata). Target was to introduce and teach Netball to the coaches and kids of under developed communities and motivate them to play Netball.
  • The school and communities targeted were- St. Joseph’s School, Salt Lake Dhapa, Loretto, Humari Muskan, St. Georges, etc.

Professional

She started her Professional life with working on a project with Deloitte, India. In 2012 during her Post Graduation at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies she has done her internship at Development Bank of Singapore, New Delhi. After completing her MBA in 2013 she started working as HR at Accenture Management Consulting- India Business, New Delhi. Currently she is working at 1-800 Sports.in.
