Potha Sharif is a village and union council of Murree Tehsil in the Rawalpindi District of Punjab, Pakistan.[1] It is located in the north-east of the tehsil at 33°57'0N 73°30'0E;[2] and is bounded to the north by Phagwari, to the south by Sehr Bagla, to the west by Rawat and to the east by Kashmir. This village is famous and well known due to the mazzar of saint Hazarat Datta Malik Suraj forefather of Potha Shareef people> He had seven sons and their descendants are currently present in Potha Shareef . There is a great mazzar and people come from different areas of the country.

There are many schools working nowadays but we are thankful to Late Hanif Abbasi, who provided a plate form in the shape of High school later on it became a higher secondary school,'Malik suraj higher secondary public school potha sharif Murree'. It was, therefore, with a sense of supreme satisfaction at the fulfillment of his mission that he told "The foundations of this educational Institute have been laid and it is now for you to build and grown up as well as you can". In accomplishing the task he had taken upon himself on the morrow of Institute’s birth, he had worked himself to death, We considered him "the greatest man he ever met", he was great as a leader of people, and greatest of all as a man of action.Hanif Abbasi(late) worked hard to reform generation. He began his great missionary work and started preaching the gospel of education and his efforts were crowned with success. His life is a living source of inspirations to the world. This is the result of his efforts that now Potha sharif’s has educated generation now. Hanif Abbasi was born in virtual chaos. May Allah Peace his soul (Ameen)
