Pleasant Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,301 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Pleasant Hill is located at 40°20′10″N 76°26′39″W / 40.33611°N 76.44417°W / 40.33611; -76.44417 (40.336082, -76.444248)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 2,301 people, 943 households, and 639 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3,152.7 people per square mile (1,217.0/km²). There were 982 housing units at an average density of 1,345.5/sq mi (519.4/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 88.79% White, 2.22% African American, 0.26% Native American, 1.52% Asian, 4.74% from other races, and 2.48% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.95% of the population.

There were 943 households out of which 36.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.3% were married couples living together, 17.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 31.6% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 85.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.3 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $35,595, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $32,130 versus $23,938 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $16,787. About 12.0% of families and 12.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.2% of those under age 18 and 6.0% of those age 65 or over.
