Pixomondo is an international visual effects company with a global network of studios in Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Los Angeles, Beijing, Toronto and Baton Rouge. The company also formerly had offices in Berlin, Detroit, London and Shanghai.
Pixomondo produces feature film, television and commercial visual effects.[1]
Founded in 2001 by CEO and Executive Producer Thilo Kuther, Pixomondo began its work creating video installations and 3D-animations for high end corporate clients such as Porsche, Bertelsmann, etc.
Pixomondo offers 24/7 visual effects production and supervision, CG character creation, 3D-animation and pre-visualization for the feature film, television and commercial industries.
Pixomondo produced the Steven Spielberg TV series Terra Nova and recently delivered visual effects for Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Ninja Assassin, Zookeeper, Sucker Punch, J.J. Abrams' Super 8 and Hunger Games.
On February 26, 2012, Pixomondo's work as lead VFX studio for the film Hugo won the Academy Award .[2]
In 2012, Pixomondo acquired the Detroit visual effects studio With A Twist, renaming it Pixomondo DTW.[3]
Pixomondo closed its Detroit office in November 2012, followed by its London office in February 2013.[4] In April 2013, Pixomondo closed its Shanghai office, laying off around 20 animators and artists.[5] Also in April 2013, the company announced on their Facebook page that they would be closing their Berlin office on May 31, 2013.[6]
