Pirzada Qasim

Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui (Urdu: پیرزادہ قاسم رضا صدیقی‎) (born February 8, 1943) is a noted Pakistani scholar, Urdu poet^[1] scientist and educationist. He is serving as Vice Chancellor of the Ziauddin University.^[2]

Biography

Pirzada was born on February 8, 1943 to a learned family in Delhi, India, at that time under the rule of the British Raj. After partition of Pakistan and India in 1947, he continued his studies in Pakistan and received his intermediate from D J Science College in Karachi and B.Sc (H) from University of Karachi. He earned his PhD from Newcastle University, England. He started his career as a lecturer at the University of Karachi and soon became a professor. He has been associated with the University's Department of Physiology since 1960. He also served as Vice Chancellor at the Federal Urdu University. He is currently the vice chancellor of Karachi University.^[3] He has written several books in English and Urdu, including Urdu poetry.^[4]

Literary career

He started to write literary work from a young age. In 1956, he wrote an article for his school's writing competition and won the gold medal. He has written many articles on different topics. Many poets and authors have written articles praising his literary work.^{[citation needed]}
