Piran tram system

The tram system in Piran, a coastal town in western Slovenia, was in use from 20 July 1912 until 31 August 1953. It replaced the trolleybus. There was only one line, which had a length of 5,444 metres (17,861 ft). The arrangement of the tram system cost 150,000 Austro-Hungarian kronen. There were five red passenger wagons that could carry up to 40 people and reached the speed up to 26 kilometres per hour (16 mph). The electricity was produced by a plant at the nearby St. Bernardin. The tram was eventually surpassed by buses.
