Pio Sanquirico
Pio Sanquirico (1847 - 1900 ) was an Italian painter.
Biography
He was born and resident in Milan; he exhibited frequently, specially in Milan. in 1880, at the National Exposition of Fine Arts of Turin, he exhibited: In Time of Peace, the next year at the Exhibition of Milan: Alla frutta, and a historical canvas: Panfilo Castaldi at the Court of the Sforza. Two years later in the same Exhibition of Milan he displayed three canvases: Confidenza; Verrà; Il pulcino nero, the latter was also exhibited in 1883, at the Exposition in Rome with another painting depicting Giordano Bruno, with the following inscription: Maiori forsitan cum timore senteutiam in me fertis quam ego accipiam. In 1881 he exhibited two more maintings; the first depicting: Le frutta, at the Exposition of Turin and another titled: Scoperta e delusione, at the Exposition of the Society for the encouragement of the Fine Arts in Florence, he displayed: Una scoperta; Da Monza a Sesto, and various studies outdoors. In 1886, he exhibited at the Exposition of Milan. His masterwork is considered The Forbidden Fruit displayed at the National Artistic Exposition in Venice in 1887.[1] Giuseppe Pellizza of Volpedo was one of his pupils.[2]
