Pinangwan is an old town. Qazi Dost Mohammad was the Qazi of Pinangwan during 17th century. He had one daughter Bibi Rabiya and two sons Deewan Idris Mohammad and Durwesh Mohammad. Bibi Rabiya was married to Qazi Abdul Baqi son of Qazi Ibrahim ibn Qazi Mahmood ibn Hākim-e Shariah Shareef Qazi-e Aazam ibn Qazi Ziauddin.[1]

Emperor Akbar awarded 2 thousands Bigha Arazi Sowar to Hākim-e Shariah Shareef Qazi-e Aazam (supreme judge) at Tijara on 4 Jumada al-Thani 976 AH.

Qazi Mahmood (died 1005 AH / 1596 AD) was 'Qazi-e Qaza' (authority to appoint qazi) after his father Qazi-e Aazam (supreme judge). His brother Mohammad Hashim and his son Abdul Hafeez had also received many 'Farman' like Qazi Mahmood.

Similarly, Qazi Ibrahim (son of Qazi Mahmood) was also 'Qazi Qaza' at Tijara. Shahjahan awarded him Farman first on 22 Dhu al-Hijjah 1054 AH (Juloos 18) and second on 19 Ramadan 1055 AH. Some parts of his ruined haveli is still seen at Tijara. He died on 5 Moharram 1074 AH / 1665 AD.

Qazi Abdul Baqi (husband of Bibi Rabiya from Pinangwan) had close relations with the Durbar of Aurangzeb and had given him charge of appointing 'Qaza' at Tijara. He also built various orchards and Havelis like Haveli Kalan, Deewan Khana, Kothi Bagh, etc. at Tijara. He had business of Arabic horses.

The daughter of Durwesh Mohammad, Bibi Rasheedi was married to Qazi Syed Inayatullah of Sakras while the another daughter Hafizi was married to Shaikh Mohammad of Khilora. Earlier Shaikh Mohammad had married to Raj Bibi daughter of Qazi Ibrahim of Tijara. With second wife Hafizi, Shaikh Mohammad had three sons - Abdul Karim, Mohammad Ibrahim and Mohammad Aslam.

During first War of Independence in 1857

The town's role in First War of Independence is mentioned as, "On November 27, 1857, another rebel force commanded by a Meo leader Sadar-ud-din attacked the Pargana of Pinangwan. A British force under Captain Ramsay from Palwal and Gurgaon was despatched at once to meet the danger. The force reached Pinangwan on November 29. But the rebels were then at a small village. They made for that village next day and reached there at 7 am. The Meos took the defence in the village. Exchange of shots continued till mid-day. Then the British troops bombarded the village with guns. Three Gorkha regiments took the defence, advanced upon the village from three directions, and they seized the village in a short time. The entire village was destroyed by fire. They cut down 28 Meos in the village including Sadar-du-din's son, and 42 more in the neighbouring villages. Making an assessment of the whole affair, Macpherson, the Joint Magistrate of Gurgaon, and the chief actor in the action at Mahun, observed: "Altogether I look upon it as a most successful affair, I should say about 70 rebels killed. The whole number of the rebels assembled was so small that their resistance was to me a subject of the greatest surprise".
