Pierre Chareau (4 August 1883 – 24 August 1950) was a French architect and designer.

Early life

Chareau was born in Le Havre, France. He went to the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris by the time he was 17.[1]

Work

Chareau is credited for building the first house in France made of steel and glass, the Maison de Verre.[2]

His designs were noted for their complex nature.[1]

Chareau was a member of Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne.
