Juniors

Herbert won the boys' doubles with Kevin Krawietz in 2009. He also reached the 2009 US Open boys' singles semifinals, where he lost to Bernard Tomic.[1] Herbert reached as high as No. 9 in the junior combined world rankings in October 2009.

Pro tour

Herbert qualified for the 2013 Paris Masters, where he defeated Benoit Paire for the loss of only four games in the first round. In the second round, he had two set points before losing to Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
