Pienaarsrivier is a town some 55 km due north of Pretoria, north of the Pienaars River. Said to be named after a local pioneer with the surname Pienaar. The Northern Sotho name of this river is Moretele, from which the Moreletaspruit derives its name. The town Pienaarsrivier was established in 1908.[2]
