Piddington, Buckinghamshire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Piddington is a hamlet in the parish of Piddington and Wheeler End in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located on the main A40 between Stokenchurch and West Wycombe.

Piddington only dates back to the mid 19th century when it was a hamlet based around a pub called The Dashwood Arms. At the turn of the century, a furniture factory was established and the hamlet grew around it. The factory is no more, but a small light industrial area now stands on its site.

There are no shops in Piddington - the nearest being in West Wycombe or Lane End. However, there is a Village Hall (which hosts many regular events including the annual Piddington Horticultural Society Show) and a playing field.

Piddington featured in an episode of BBC2's Top Gear. Jeremy Clarkson was seen to drive a Renault Espace through the village on his way to make it into a convertible, with fellow presenters James May and Richard Hammond. Clarkson remarked on passing through Piddington "I've got a people carrier, I'm a bit of a Piddington!"
