Phusro is a city and a notified area in Bokaro district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.It is situated about 35 kilometres (22 mi) from district headquarter of bokaro. Damodar River passes through it.
Demographics
As of 2011 India census,[1] Phusro had a population of 83,463. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. In Phusro, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age. It is a busy city with respect to the coal business. Most people are either employed in CCL or run their own business mainly related to coal.
Languages spoken: Hindi, Bengali, English,Khortha, Magadhi, Urdu, Kurmali, Oriya, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Santhali and Murmu.
It has two cinema theatres namely Meghdoot cinema and Awadh cinema. It has large market which are used by people of nearby places. Meghdoot market is largest of them having hundreds of shops spread over large area. Banks such as SBI, UCO Bank, Bank of India, ICICI bank, HDFC Bank, PNB,Axis bank have their branches here. The city is managed by Phusro Municipal Council headed by its president Mr Nilkanth Ravidas. Despite that people here are fed up with pollution which is created by transportation of coal and coal ashes. It was the workplace of ex-CM of Bihar Late Bindeswari Dubey. It has two stadium, Kargali Football Stadium and Dhori Ground which host major political rallies and cultural program.The place is politically very active as MP of Giridih Ravindra Pandey and leader of opposition and MLA of Bermo, Rajendra pd. Singh both belong to this place.
Education
It has many good schools namely DAV Public School, Bharat singh public school,Rukmini Devi Public School, Saraswati Vidya Mandir (Anapati Devi),Saraswati shisu vidya mandir,dhori,Rambilas high school,Carmel School, Ram Ratan High School and others. It has one ladies college, JSM college which is affiliated to VBU, Hazaribagh. Many students study outside the state due to lack of good higher education college. Shubhra Saxena, a girl who topped the UPSC 2008 was an alumnus of DAV Public School, Dhori.
Transportation
Phusro railway station (PUS) is connected to Kolkata, Bhopal, Ajmer, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Patna by direct trains. It lies on the Gomoh-Barkakana lines.The station has been selected to develop it into 'ADARSH STATION' in a recent rail budget.But station lack in passengers amenities and trains.Large numbers of buses ply between Phusro and neighbouring cities like Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, and Hazaribagh. Buses to north Bihar cities also ply from phusro.
Health services
It has two CCL managed hospitals namely Regional Hospital, Dhori and Regional Hospital, kargali and a government hospital called Referral Hospital. Beside that numerous private clinics and hospitals also serve local people.
