Phil Elverum (born Phil Elvrum May 26, 1978) is the sole permanent member of the Anacortes, Washington-based bands The Microphones and Mount Eerie.

Phil Elverum manipulates analog recording devices in his work. Most of the Microphones catalog was recorded on a broken 16 track reel to reel tape machine while his recent material has been recorded on an 8 track reel to reel.

Elverum currently operates P. W. Elverum & Sun, Ltd.,[1] from which he sells records by Mount Eerie and the Microphones as well as Thanksgiving, Woelv and The Spectacle.

Phil Elverum used to drum for the Olympia, Washington-based band Old Time Relijun. He is also a founding member of the band D+, and has produced and engineered recordings for other artists including Beat Happening, Mirah, Little Wings, Karl Blau, and Jason Anderson.

Other work

In addition to his albums, Elverum has released several self-published books. He is also a painter, and has created the artwork for most of his albums, as well as the t-shirts and posters sold during his tours.

Fancy People Adventures

In 2005, Elvrum created a 365 day calendar which was sold at Mount Eerie shows featuring a new, original comic for each day. This calendar was titled "Fancy People Adventures 2005"[2] Elvrum created a website, dedicated to his "Fancy People Adventures" comics.[3] The comics are usually composed of only one panel and contain themes of exploitation and corruption of "D.I.Y." values, from both the corporate standpoint,and from the standpoint of clueless and self-aggrandizing followers.
